Description
Panda Garra
The Panda Garra (Garra flavatra) is a lively and distinctive freshwater fish known for its striking black-and-yellow banded pattern and entertaining personality. Constantly exploring rocks, driftwood and aquarium surfaces, this active species makes an excellent addition to a well-established community aquarium.
Panda Garras naturally graze on algae and biofilm but should not be purchased solely as algae cleaners. Their diet should be supplemented with quality sinking foods, algae wafers and fresh vegetables, along with occasional protein-rich foods.
They thrive in clean, highly oxygenated water with moderate to strong flow. An aquarium with smooth rocks, driftwood, open swimming space and a secure-fitting lid is recommended, as they are excellent climbers and may escape through small openings.
Generally peaceful, Panda Garras can be kept with other active community fish. Some chasing and territorial behaviour may occur between individuals, so groups should be provided with sufficient space, food and multiple grazing areas.
