Loach Hillstream (Sewellia Lineolata)
Bring something a little different to your aquarium with the Hillstream Loach! Also known as the Reticulated or Tiger Hillstream Loach, this fascinating freshwater fish features intricate dark markings, a flattened body and broad, fan-shaped fins—giving it the appearance of a miniature stingray.
Native to fast-flowing streams in Vietnam, Hillstream Loaches spend much of their time clinging to rocks and aquarium glass, grazing on soft algae and biofilm. Their unusual appearance and busy grazing behaviour make them a captivating addition to a suitably set-up aquarium.
They thrive in mature aquariums with clean, well-oxygenated water, strong circulation and plenty of smooth rocks. Generally peaceful with other fish, they suit small tankmates that enjoy the same cooler water conditions. Males may defend their favourite feeding spots, so provide plenty of space and grazing surfaces.
