Gourami Samurai (Sphaerichthys Vaillanti)
Please note: When purchasing multiple Samurai Gouramis, they must be ordered in a balanced sex ratio, with equal numbers of males and females wherever possible. We are unable to supply groups containing more fish of one sex than the other.
The Samurai Gourami (Sphaerichthys vaillanti) is a rare and captivating blackwater species prized for its striking colours, intricate markings and graceful behaviour. Unlike many gourami species, females are typically the more colourful of the pair, displaying beautiful red and green banding when mature.
Best suited to experienced aquarists, Samurai Gouramis thrive in a peaceful, well-established aquarium with soft, acidic water, gentle filtration and subdued lighting. Provide plenty of plants, driftwood, leaf litter and shaded hiding places to recreate their natural blackwater habitat. They should be housed with calm, similarly sized tank mates and should not be kept with aggressive or overly active fish.
