Botanicals Alder Cones
Alder cones are the seed-bearing catkins of black alder trees (Alnus glutinosa), native to Europe and introduced in parts of the United States and Canada. Resembling tiny pine cones, these cones turn a deep brown in autumn and can be collected from the tree or the ground.
Alder cones naturally possess antibacterial and antifungal properties, making them a beneficial addition to aquariums. Beyond that, they serve as foraging sites for biofilm, which shrimp enjoy as it develops during decomposition. Alder cones also offer excellent hiding spots for fry and can gently lower pH levels if needed.
Size:
Each cone averages 2.5-3 cm in diameter and releases rich tannins into the water, making it ideal for those who prefer a dark, stained water effect.
Preparation:
Boil Alder cones for at least an hour to fully saturate them, as they initially float when immersed.
Origin:
Native to Europe and North America (Locally Sourced)

Note:
Each cone is unque in color, size, and texture due to natural variation. The photo provided serves as a sample representation.
