K1 Moving Bed Technology
Moving bed media offers many advantages over traditional static bed filters, including a large surface area constantly exposed to oxygen and nutrients for bacteria. The media self-cleans as it tumbles, and its world-famous protected surface area allows bacteria and higher organisms to dwell in safe locations, exposed to oxygen and food, but protected from harmful cleaning practices.
Over the last twenty years, moving bed technology has become standard in pond filters. Evolution Aqua pioneered this approach, conducting extensive research and development in biological filtration. Nexus and Eazy Pod filters use K1 and K1 Micro exclusively, all designed and manufactured in the UK.

How to Calculate Media Requirements
For a moving bed chamber, fill no more than 25% of the chamber with K1 or K1 Micro media. This ensures proper fluidisation with sufficient water flow.
