Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter QuikCycl 60ml
Professional Nutrients for Fishless Aquarium Cycling
Brightwell MicroBacter QuikCycl 60ml provides essential nutrients to establish strong nitrifying bacteria beds in freshwater and marine aquariums. Designed for fishless cycling, it ensures a safe and effective start for new tanks without risking aquatic life.
Important Safety Notes
-
Caution: Contains ammonia. Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.
-
Do not use in aquariums containing live fish, plants, or invertebrates.
-
Add animals only after cycling is complete.
-
Must be used with a live bacterial culture (e.g., MicroBacter Start XLM or XLF).
-
Monitor pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate using test kits to ensure safe cycling.
-
Avoid carbon, GFO, or other phosphate removers during cycling as they inhibit bacterial growth.

Instructions for Fishless Cycling
Day 1 – Preparation
-
Turn off skimmer, UV, and remove fine filtration such as socks. Ensure sufficient filtration surface (e.g., Brightwell Xport™ or MicroBacter Lattice™).
-
Use a dechlorinator like Brightwell Erāse to remove chlorine and chloramine.
-
Prepare water and adjust pH, alkalinity, and temperature.
-
Add full dose of QuikCycl: 4 drops per gallon or 1 ml per 5 gallons of tank capacity.
-
Measure ammonia (target 1–2 ppm total). Do not overdose.
-
Add MicroBacter Start XLM or XLF as appropriate.
Days 2–6 – Daily Monitoring
-
Measure pH, ammonia, and nitrite daily.
-
If ammonia or nitrite exceed 0.25 ppm, add more bacterial culture if needed.
-
Record all values to track cycling progress.
Days 7–9+ – Completing the Cycle
-
Day 7: If ammonia and nitrite are zero, measure nitrate. ≥0.25 ppm indicates the aquarium is cycled (for MicroBacter Start users).
-
Day 8–9+: Continue daily measurements. When ammonia + nitrite = 0 and nitrate ≥0.25 ppm, cycling is complete.
Post-Cycle
-
Perform a 25% water change.
-
Slowly introduce hardy animals.
-
Gradually restart UV, skimmer, and filtration.
