Furtadoa Sumatrensis Red
Furtadoa sumatrensis ‘Red’ – Rare Red Fern-Like Aquatic Plant
Furtadoa sumatrensis ‘Red’ is a rare and striking aquatic plant admired for its deep reddish-brown tones and unique, fern-like leaf structure. Native to Southeast Asia, this slow-growing species thrives when attached to driftwood or rocks, making it ideal for natural-style aquascapes and shaded aquarium areas.
Under moderate to high lighting and with CO₂ supplementation, its foliage develops a rich red to bronze hue, providing a beautiful contrast against green plants. Like Bucephalandra or Bolbitis, Furtadoa ‘Red’ absorbs nutrients directly from the water column and prefers stable, clean conditions. Its elegant, textured leaves make it an excellent midground accent or hardscape focal plant in both low-tech and high-tech aquariums.
