Fritz Ammonia Test Strips provide a quick, reliable way to measure total ammonia (NH3 and NH4+) from 0 to 8 ppm in both freshwater and marine aquariums. Regular ammonia testing is critical, as even small amounts can stress or harm fish and invertebrates.

These strips are especially valuable during new tank cycling, after medication treatments, or in cases of sudden fish illness or death, when ammonia spikes are most likely.

Why Monitor Ammonia?

• Toxic at any level – even trace amounts can harm fish

• New tanks – ammonia spikes are common before biological filtration matures

• Established tanks – poor maintenance, overstocking, or filter disruptions may cause spikes

• Symptoms of ammonia poisoning – heavy breathing, gasping at the surface, clamped fins, discoloration, disease susceptibility, or death

Directions & Dosage

1. Dip the strip in and out of the water 30 times.

2. Remove with the test pad facing up.

3. Immediately compare the strip to the included color chart.
   Note: colors continue to change over time—read instantly for accuracy.

Corrective Actions

• 0–0.5 ppm: Reduce feeding, remove debris, add MaxOut / MaxOut Pro, detoxify with Fritz ACCR or Fritz Complete, and add FritzZyme nitrifying bacteria.

• 0.5–1 ppm: Stop feeding temporarily, perform a partial water change, and follow the above steps.

• 1–2 ppm: Perform a 50% water change, then repeat corrective actions.

• 2+ ppm: Perform a 75% or greater water change; seek expert guidance if levels persist.
