Hookeriaceae resembles a miniature stem plant, growing short, darkly coloured vertical stems with some lateral shoots. Leaves are semi-transparent and green to dark green, forming in dense star shaped clusters all along the length of each stem.

It is excellent placed as a foreground focal point or attached to hardscape, and will spread slowly via side shoots. It can also be used as a lush low maintenance carpet plant. 

Hookeriaceae is actually a species of liverwort rather than a moss, is relatively easy to care for, requiring medium lighting for best growth. CO2 is beneficial but not a requirement. This moss grows slowly and is a more sensitive species, requiring temperatures consistently below 23° and stable water parameters. Higher temperatures may result in melting and Hookeriaceae should only be placed in mature, established aquariums.
